Western Shoshone Spiritual Leader Dies
For decades, Corbin Harney was a fixture at anti-nuclear rallies advocating for peace and protection of "Mother Earth," especially his native land, Newe Sogobia, which stretched across a wide swath of what became Nevada. On Tuesday, Harney, spiritual leader of the Western Shoshones, died of complications from cancer in a rural area of Santa Rosa, Calif., his family and friends said. He was 87. Western Shoshone Integral in Stopping Divine Strake Detonation

Stephanie Salter: A Healthy Skepticism for Federal Activists
The good news is, it isn’t an atomic bomb and it won’t be detonated between our own southern Indiana towns of Bedford and Mitchell. The bad news is, the U.S. government is champing at the bit to explode 700 tons of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, and the most desirable spot is about 85 miles northwest of Las Vegas on desert land still rich in radioactive sand and soil from nearly five decades of nuclear tests...www.tribstar.com, 1/16/07
